It uses 3-5 threads at any given time and the memory foot print isn't too high (less than 100MB) however, the process seems to be stuck or stays on all the time - whether the browser is being used or not. Cannot force quit it or delete it.

All Orion processes are expected to stop when the browser exits, but that isn't the case.

    Oh shoot! I don't know why it's high Sierra! I'm on Sequoia 15.3 :/
    My bad!

      Turns out this is something to do with Rosetta? Similar observation for folks using Clean my app - which is bizarre.

      My system is M-chip not Intel.

        I have Orion beta and RC installed. Their Dock Extra stay running even I quit Orion.

        MacOS 15.3

        @dino posted this in discord:

        This is used to maintain custom App icon on the dock. For example if you have chosen different variant of Orion icon from Appearance Preferences, and you choose option "Keep in Dock" for Orion app, as soon you exit Orion, the icon will return to default, so to keep showing selected icon we need "Dock Title" plugin.

          eirk Just checked - no other apps are calling for Dock Extra. Only Orion is. There is universal process for Dock Extra that is run probably by the Dock itself. But no other third party browsers or apps including those with custom icons are calling it.

            I dont understand what you are trying to get at here. orion has the ability to use custom app icons that are saved even when orion isn't running, and because of that, the Dock Extra (Orion) process is required

            What do you mean by this?
            Some apps that have a dock extra process on my computer include arc, fantastical, and proxyman

              eirk Do they keep it running after you exit the apps? I don't seem to have any apps that are using Dock extra other than Orion so cannot tell if it is Orion only issue or system issue.

                These Dock Extra processes need to be running whenever Dock.app is running (ie, always) in order to keep these dock icons even when these apps aren't running. Orion is doing nothing wrong here, and nor is the system. this is just how the dock extra process works

                I know this is marked 'no fix' but no other browser apps, even if pinned to Dock are invoking Dock Extra for me. Orion is. I don't know if this is something webkit specific but Egde, Chrome and Brave, all pinned to dock, do not use Dock Extra once exited.

                  The only reason orion has a dock extra is because it does some special stuff with dock icons that most other apps don't use. Edge, Chrome, and Brave don't do anything special with dock icons, so they don't need the dock extra process
