Bug Report

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Export Safari bookmarks to Safari Bookmarks.html
  2. Import into Orion
  3. Edit bookmarks/re-organize from imported folder
  4. Browse
  5. Reboot
  6. Relaunch Orion

Expected behavior:
On reboot and Orion launch, expect to see all imported bookmarks. But don't see any.

    I thought they were gone as well, I'll bet they are still there. Try selecting 'Show Bookmarks' from the Bookmark menu, should be fly out from the left side with all the bookmarks.

    Yes, I agree they should populate the bookmark menu. Not sure if bug or by design.

      We currently do not show bookmarks in bookmarks menu. You have to "Show Bookmarks" or "Edit Bookmarks" to see them

          Actually -- they're not there, even when I "show bookmarks." They really are gone. However, reproducing this seems to be tricky. I did some experiments -- sometimes the bookmarks stayed after reboot, and sometimes the bookmarks were lost even after quitting and relaunching Orion (but not rebooting).

            I, for one, would at least like an option to show bookmarks in the menu. Some of us old guys have been using them that way since Mosaic nearly thirty years ago. Hard to change now.

                      Vlad I just lost all of my bookmarks on the latest beta [Version 0.99.110-beta (WebKit 613.1.12)] on macOS Catalina 10.15.7

                      I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but I remember saving all tabs in a window (Window Switcher > This Window > Bookmark All Tabs). Then I quit the app. When I opened Orion again, I got a crash report and I'm not sure what caused it, but now I suspect that it might have been related to this loss of bookmarks.

                      I have saved all the tabs In a window via this method before but haven't really lost bookmarks before so I'm not sure what would be the exact steps to reproduce it. Maybe the crash report which I sent before might be of some use (I haven't attached any details/mail with it so it may be harder to find. I sent it a while back(less than 2 hrs ago though)

                      This is a really serious issue as I just saved some newer 5-10 tabs in bookmarks and didn't really have time to make a backup.

                          Vlad All my bookmarks has vaped away after Orion crashed and restart. Unfortunately I didn't keep the log crash.
