Love using the sidebar layout in the browser but feel like the addressbar / urlbar at the top could be at a better position. Either at the top of the sidebar, or even hidden and show it as a dialog in the center of the screen when typing in it.
Depending on the implementation(toggleable option or default for sidebar layout) it might affect existing workflows. I think it could add value since having the urlbar just appear at the center of the screen would make browsing easier without having to look up to see whether the right url is being typed in.
Only caveat in this case is what to do with the other items in the top bar, either keep them there but only show the bar when hovering which could be fine, or they should be placed in the sidebar which would be possible but might become a little crammed.
User has the sidebar layout as the preferred layout.
User selects the preferred url / address bar option (let's call it dialog mode for now)
The topbar disappears or shows only when hovered at the top (as mentioned above)
When the user presses CMD + T or CMD + L the url / address bar dialog pops up showing (depending on which command) an empty url or the current URL.
Other browsers that do something similar are probably Zen Browser and Arc.
