Today I opened my iPad then Orion. I believe I was on a web page at airthings.com (last thing in my history from the night before). I typed in what I believe was safeway.com but rather than take me to safeway.com I was brought to Kagi, guessing I fat fingered my intended url. I do not see this step in my history so I can’t be certain what I did. In any case I selected a link and my screen was immediately taken over by some sort of malicious software. At first this was confined to Orion, and I then I force quit the app. Not believing what happened I opened Orion again to see if I could figure out what happened. At that point it got worse my iPad was totally locked up. I could not force quit, I could not even power it down. As I was looking at my phone to figure out how to try to do a hard reset Orion quit.
I have a few thoughts:
- Shouldn’t history keep track of a search performed by Kagi when I type something into the URL window.
- I have tried to find some way to export my history to save it and send it to support for Orion or iPadOS.
- While I can obviously clear all of my history, is it possible to allow me to remove individual line items?
Perhaps this is unreasonable but should malicious software have been able to take over my iPad to the extent that it did? Not sure where the issue resides with Orion, iPadOS, both. I am happy to send you links to the offending pages from my history if I can export it.
