Orion Preview is an incredibly useful feature of Orion, however, a considerable drawback is the fact that its window will only stay alive when its key and order is in the front of the macOS windows.
Adding a 'pin' button to allow Orion Preview to be able to exist behind windows and stay alive, even when it's clicked away, would provide the user with a better experience overall in the app.
What are the exact ways that you see a user using your proposed feature?
Say you have an app open (e.g. Figma) that prompts you to sign in via a link.
You click the link and it opens in Orion preview.
You enter your credentials and are prompted for a multi-factor authentication code.
You click away from Orion Preview and you realise the window has disappeared completely.
Frustrating, isn't it?
Sure, it's pretty negligible, and you could just click the fullscreen icon on Orion Preview to open the window in Orion, but details do go a long way!!
