What does Orion have right now in terms of touch bar?
Absolutely nothing.
I think basic Touch Bar support is relatively important, though I don't have a Touch Bar on my Mac. There will be many Touch Bar MacBooks in active use for quite a while - consider that the latest 13" M1 MBP has a Touch Bar, and it was released only about a year ago.
If I had a Touch Bar MacBook that I used regularly, even if I didn't use the Touch Bar, opening an app like Orion, which prides itself on feeling native on macOS, and seeing nothing in the Touch Bar would feel very un-polished. For an avid Touch Bar user, it could be a deal-breaker.
Yes we need the touch bar support as i use it everday! Please add just the basic controls Vlad. Will be greatful!
Update : Apple updated the 13' MacBook w/ touch bar with its new M2 chip so the touch bar will still be around for at least one more year; any update on this case?
Thought I'd chime in to say that I have a touch bar and find it pretty useless. I would rather the team focused on other things.
Apple seems to still be willing to support the Touch Bar as evidenced by the new M2 13-inch MacBook Pro, so hopefully we can see support in the future.
Being able to preview and switch tabs like on safari is my favourite feature
Just like in safari or even better, if there's a video playing on the page, include a pip button on the Touch Bar. I know that there's a shortcut CTRL CMD P for this but it would be nice to be able to use one hand to do this.

Brief Summary
The proposed feature entails the implementation of touch bar shortcuts and controls in the Orion browser, similar to those in Safari. This feature is meant to improve navigation and provide a better user experience by making the browsing process faster and more intuitive. It will affect existing workflows by introducing an alternative method of navigation and control that can be faster than traditional methods for some users.
Details:
Users can use the proposed feature by interacting with their touch bar, which will now show various controls and shortcuts based on the context of their browsing. For instance, when on a webpage, they could see forward and backward navigation buttons, refresh, home, bookmarks, and other relevant options. When on a video-playing webpage, the touch bar could show video control options like play/pause, forward/backward, etc.
The Safari browser provides a good model for this kind of feature. In Safari, when a user is browsing, the touch bar shows icons for backward/forward navigation, the URL bar, bookmarks, and tab switching. When a user is on a page with a video, the touch bar changes to show video controls.
For this feature to extend its usefulness, the Orion browser could incorporate a customizable touch bar control feature where users could choose what shortcuts they want to see in their touch bar, allowing for a personalized and more efficient browsing experience.
Image/Video:
Given that Apple has removed the Touch Bar from their laptops (it only remains available on the previous-generation 13" MacBook Pro that's still hanging around) I think it's safe to conclude it is a dead-end feature so given Orion's limited development resources I don't think investing any further time into Touch Bar functionality is worthwhile.
ImBIOS and anyone else looking to improve the Orion Touch Bar experience I would suggest you investigate BetterTouchTool which offers extensive system-wide and per-app Touch Bar customisation, where you could e.g. create a custom Touch Bar button to run the AppleScript set volume input volume 0
which should mute your microphone in reference to the request at https://orionfeedback.org/d/5597-mute-microphone, or open the macOS inbuilt Script Editor app, select Window → Library, add Orion to the Library list and double click it to view the various AppleScript commands & variables available to allow building Orion-specific scripts & advanced functionality.
