Tabs should close daily.

What do you mean by this?

Vlad Maybe Iā€™m misunderstanding something, this setting gives me the impression that tabs should be closed daily:

      @dino shared the following:

We set lastAccessed time for each tab and when the App goes to background we close all tabs having lastAccessed time longer than selected settings (one day, week, or month)

Does this match your experience, @dps? How should Orion signal to the user that this is how the periodic tab closing works?

There was a bug in 'one day' setting and a fix is coming in 1.3.13.
They will close after they have not been touched for 24hours

          8 days later
          6 days later

          This is still not fixed.

Vlad Iā€™m on 1.3.14 (2) (WebKit 8620.1.16.10.8) on my phone, iOS 18.2 (22C5142a). I have 100+ tabs that are not automatically being closed, despite having the following setting.

                a month later

On the Orion mobile app, In settings under tabs, there is an option to have tabs be closed :

                • Manually
                • After one day
                • After one week
                • After one month

I have the option selected for "After one day". I have not witnessed this actually working.
I have left tabs open for more than 24 hours (and not used Orion). When returning, the tabs are still open.

I expected any tabs that have a lifespan of 24+ hours, and no user interaction to automatically be closed.

I would love an option to have tabs automatically close after:

                • 1 hour
                • On App Exit (actually closing the app)

                Orion 1.3.15 (5) / iOS 18.2.1

                18

                  Hey @brisc
One hour and On App Exit make sense. We need to consider whether there are too many options.
If you only had three options available, which ones would you prefer?

As for the tabs that close after 24 hours, give me ... 24 hours to test them. šŸ˜‰

                    Yannick

                    Thank you.

For me, an hour is perfect. You are right in that it makes sense not to over clutter the options, so I can see hour/day/month being reasonable.

I attached a screen shot of the DuckDuckGo Browser which has a similar setting that is fantastic for getting rid of tab clutter.

Thanks for your reply & DDG screenshot šŸ™‚
