Swipe to open new tab intermittent bug

I’ve run into this issue a bunch, but it doesn’t happen every time, so not sure the circumstances to reproduce:

swipe search/address bar to open new tab
new tab opens, but there’s a slight visual glitch - I can type in the bar, but faintly ghosted behind my input is the “Search or enter website” text.
hit enter to search, search/address bar goes blank and it stays on the blank new tab page. If I enter a new search/website, same thing occurs.
if I hit the tab browser button, my tabs pop up, but the current “new” tab I’m on (the one that’s broken) does not appear. Only my previously open tabs are shown.

To be able to open a new tab and type to search or browse.

I’ll give it a shot, might take a bit. Not sure how to reliably reproduce atm.

Photo is of the search bar bug. You can see the typed web address overlaying the address initially typed. The search bar becomes unresponsive in this state.

Video is a realtime of the bug. Unfortunately, it's not reliably produced, so the video doesn't cover the moment when the bug was first encountered; I slid right to left on the search bar to open a new tab, and that's when it happened. Recent updates seem to have made it less common, but it still pops up.
