  • Unchecking "Use Orion's Keychain" checkbox disables "Password AutoFill" checkboxes

  • BugsDesktopDone

As I understand the explanatory label under "Use Orion's Keychain", this toggle does not disable AutoFill, but only toggles which keychain is used. However unchecking the option disables the checkboxes below, locking them in whatever their last state was ("Offer to AutoFill", "Use Touch ID", etc).

The "Password AutoFill" checkboxes should remain enabled regardless of the state of the "Password Provider" checkbox.

These settings are specific to only the orion keychain, and change the behavior of how password autofill works for the orion keychain

When I leave the Password AutoFill settings checked and uncheck Password Provider (orion keychain), the keychain autofill icon still appears in relevant fields. The only reason I noticed this issue was because I wanted to disable the keychain autofill and use 1password. I had to check Use Orion's Keychain and uncheck the other four checkboxes before unchecking Use Orion's Keychain again to get the keychain autofill icon in fields to go away.

Rez Omg thanks a lot for the workaround, I can now use Bitwarden correctly 🙏🏻

What do you suggest we do in terms of any changes/clarifications to the language?

Vlad I wasn't able to use autofill with Keepassium until reading this thread. I agree with @Rez 's suggestion:

Rez The "Password AutoFill" checkboxes should remain enabled regardless of the state of the "Password Provider" checkbox.

Perhaps then "Offer to Autofill passwords from Orion's Keychain" should be changed to one of:

            • "Offer to Autofill passwords"
            • "Offer to Autofill passwords from enabled password providers"

And include a informational tooltip that offers some explanation that Mac system settings may have third party password providers (Keepassium, etc)
