On iOS Safari, when you visit a page in reader mode there's an option to "Listen to this Page". This reads out the page and supports very basic playback mechanisms like skip forward and backwards and playback speed. It works in the background so if you leave the app it keeps playing. It shows playback controls on the lockscreen.
I find this to be a killer feature of Safari. I listen to audiobooks and podcasts all the time while I'm doing other things. Being able to basically convert a long article into a podcast is really nice. I also wonder if this would be an easier feature to adopt considering it's available on iOS Safari.
Pretty much exactly how it works in iOS Safari. I find that workflow pretty intuitive.
