the memory leak happens when visiting pinterest. open https://pinterest.com for the first time, click "login", and attempt to use bitwarden autofill. it will fail, and clicking out of the bitwarden popup, the page will lag pretty hard. memory usage of https://www.pinterest.com on activity monitor will skyrocket (the first time this happened it went up to 6 GB, and i only have 8 GB on my system). closing the tab with pinterest will stop memory usage increasing but won't get rid of it until the browser itself is quit.

subsequent visits to pinterest will trigger the memory leak immediately, even without interacting with bitwarden at all. disabling/uninstalling the extension gets rid of the leak completely; i also haven't tried testing without other extensions installed because of this. i have however tried all three ways i could think of of installing bitwarden (from popular extensions, chrome web store, add-ons for firefox) and the memory leak happens every time. this doesn't happen on other browsers i've tried (firefox and arc).

using: macbook air m1
other extensions (all firefox): enhanced-h264ify 2.2.1, enhancer for youtube 2.0.125.1, unpaywall 3.98, zotero connector 5.0.141

Orion 0.99.128.1-beta, macOS Sonoma 14.5 build 23F79

Sonoma (14)

I was able to reproduce this:

    1. Create a fresh profile
    2. Install bitwarden via popular extensions
    3. Go to https://www.pinterest.com
    4. Click login in top right
    5. Click the bitwarden extension icon
    6. Watch memory usage and CPU usage spike in Activity Monitor

I also sent a crash report which I think was caused by this.

Here's a video of the issue:

Confirmed fixed on Version 0.99.128.1.1.2-rc (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2).
