Not sure how to quantify the energy usage but I have noticed since yesterday's update my M1 MacBook Pro has been getting very hot and the fans have been ramping up, battery draining very quickly when I use Orion.

Orion is my daily driver but this new resource intensive bug is not something that I can really tolerate. I've tried restarting my laptop and even with only Orion open and less than 10 tabs, my laptop gets very warm and the battery starts to drain very very fast. Even opening it without any tabs it says Orion is using significant energy in my battery menu bar.

I want to keep using Orion so if there is any way I can help figure this out let me know!

Revert to original power usage prior to update

Version 0.99.128.1-beta (WebKit 619.1.11.111.2)

Sonoma (14)

First off, you can revert back to 0.99.128-beta by using the instructions here. The direct link for Sonoma is https://cdn.kagi.com/updates/14_0/128.zip. This should allow you to continue to use Orion while the potential bug is being worked on.

Before reverting, it would be helpful if you could compare Safari and Orion 128.1-beta by opening the same set of web pages and seeing if there's anything unusual in Activity Monitor. Additionally, adding the previous version to the comparison would provide some useful information.

I am still seeing this in the latest RC (0.99.129.4.1-rc). My battery usage is rougly 2x of Firefox and Chromium browsers. Example below after using both browseres configured similarly for 1 hour browsing on similar sites.

Ironically, after being to lazy for several months to post a feedback, 99.130-rc seems to have resolved my issues. I will keep an eye on it, but battery usage is back to where I would expect for Webkit.
