Be able to change the shortcut by hitting a key combination on my keyboard

yeri It might be that the shorcuts you are entering are already taken--does it work with a shortcut that is not already taken for some other action? For example, using these shortcuts that are for sure not used in by a menu item already works for me:

Yes -- that could actually be it. Looks like there are a few combinations that work, but the vast majority aren't getting accepted (and no visual cue to explain why). Can we improve this and/or force rebind a shortcut?

yeri Yes, absolutely agree, there should be a visual cue. We will add that

astruckm Probably forcing to rebind a shortcut would be great too. I'm trying to add the same shortcut as Chrome/Firefox and it's not getting accepted (cmd+shift+e) which seems to be linked to compatibility mode (which I do not use).

          thanks!

yeri Do Firefox/Chrome allow you to change extension shortcut to something already used by the browser?

Vlad Hmmm... Doesn't seem like it -- with a caveat.

For example, I can rebind it to CMD+P (print); but it seems like hitting CMD+P still opens the print window. Same for CMD+J (downloads), CMD+Y (history), CMD+F etc. But the extension accepts it; it just doesn't trigger it to open the extension.

I am unable to rebind it to CMD+T and CMD+N; that's being refused altogether.

Not sure if that's an idea -- working with a type/leve lof shortcuts? Primary, that can't be modified, and some that aren't as useful, that can be overwritten?

                No one is typing
