Orion Named windows are a confusing abstraction that makes context management difficult.
When the user organizes a named window, they are organizing context related to topic. In a multi monitor setup and/or window snapping, the user is forced to use 1 window to manage all information related to the topic. That is unnecessarily constraining.
Current workarounds.
- Duplicate named window groups - This necessarily fragments organization that is applied to the tab group
- Bookmarks - UI for moving windows and managing state will require constant switching between bookmarks and named windows due to current structure of sidebar.
Proposed solution
- Multiple instances of a named window.
This allows the user to continue to keep information organized in the sidebar, without artificially introducing new disorganaton to the named window.
Example using safari where functionality is already there.
