Some additional reasoning behind why Arc remains on my mac — the in-window split view!

Focus mode + window manager doesn't do the trick for me. I'm always moving windows to adapt to the other apps I use, moving two windows in a busy workspace is surprisingly difficult.

If I click on one of my "side-by-side" windows, it ends up in the foreground, with the other hidden behind something else.
If I alt-tab, it brings all my Orion windows to the front, which totally obliterates the other app I'm trying to work with
keyboard shortcuts don't work the way I want them to any more (command-T opens a new tiny window on one side, not a wide non-split window; command-W doesn't close one of my side-by-side tabs or turn the other into a full-size tab)
I can't see my tabs (in focus mode), or only the left window can have my (vertical) tabs shown. I suppose, I could have three windows, two focus mode above one full-width with vertical tabs showing over the side, but then many of the problems above get more more pronounced.

Though I'm certain this feature is helpful on ultrawide monitors, I use a 13" macbook air screen, and still find it immensely useful in Arc there 😊

Gonna contradict myself now. I tried and tried to get some nice UX solution working for Yannick's approach above, but every solution adds too much friction compared to splitting tabs in other browsers. Right click -> split tab (or some modifier-click) is seamless, quick, and intuitive. And I have found I depend on splitting tabs way more than I'd previously thought — so much that I have stopped using Orion and switched to Zen (because of Arc's impending doom/transition to Dia).

I miss Orion though! So I will cross my fingers that we'll get an Orion-native split tabs feature soon.

I love using kagi, been using it extensively on vivaldi and then zen. I tried orion brower few months back but didn't commit to it. I downloaded orion agan and the only two things that I would like to be implemented are arc like link bar on the sidebar pannel and split screen tabs. Rest the browser is very fast and energy efficient.

Split screen tabs is a great productivity feature that is missing from Orion, and no, multiple windows is not the same.

I've been trying to come back to Orion but that is definitely stopping me.

Split View is now supported in Chrome (soon to be released on main).

I love how Zen resolved bookmarks tab hiding and split screen is also well implemented, but my heart stays with Orion. I definitely preffer ease of tab management in Orion. But seeing split screen here would be really nice, as it became sort of a standard nowadays.

Yes. The last 6 months have been dedicated to refactoring and no new features have been added. We hope to be able to implement it in Q1 2026!

I was trying Orion again after switching to Zen a while back. Sadly, came across this not being possible today and back to Zen for now I go! Would absolutely love to see this implemented in Orion, hopefully sooner rather than later. Will keep an eye out and give it another try if/when it happens.
