Sync bookmarks with Raindrop

Ah ok, didn't know that feature request exists. That would be a better solution. I've added my (different) suggestion, to use Raindrop, there.

I understand, but as @Vlad already (correctly) mentioned, supporting such a solution would require a lot of work. For the purpose of having the Orion bookmarks in Windows browsers, it might be quicker/easier to just use a solution which has a ready to use API.

I understand the privacy point, but do how can we know that Kagi is more trusted than Raindrop? I can selfhost the bookmarks, but when Orion pulls them in Kagi could, if they're "evil" (I think they're not), misuse that data.

So I guess my feature request is different from the other one. I'll change my question a bit.

Sorry, I never used raindrop so correct me if I'm wrong because maybe I'm not aware of some raindrop functionality:

Raindrop is a service, their extension is simply a bookmarklet where you send the pages you want to save to their service, to look at all your bookmarks you have to go to their service and from there click on the bookmark you want to navigate. Is this correct? Isn't this already working?
I ask this because every other bookmarklet I use in orion just works

Do raindrop sync your bookmarks native inside the browser?
Or maybe retrieve automatically the bookmarks you saved in your browser?

Raindrop has an extension for all Mac/Windows browsers. Safari works; didn't check Orion yet.

This extension shows a list, with folders and that, in which you can open the bookmarks. So you certainly won't have to "go to their service", although the bookmarks can be viewed and used via a browser app and also a desktop app.

It's quite a good service/extension. The free version is good enough for just having the bookmarks available.

But as said before, I always prefer not to use extensions at all.

marc-eu Supporting any API is significant effort and we do not know Raindrop will be around in a year.

We like native solutions - iCloud Sync is one. Unfortunately it is not cross platform. In the absance of those we'd prefer to rely on third party extensions that already work - like floccus.

I don't know how Bear Notes does it, but they also use iCloud for their note storage, and they have now made their web version available which somehow connects to iCloud. I'm using the web version on Windows without any problem.

I wish there was a sync option, instead I just use Raindrop for my bookmarks. Pros and cons vs normal broswer bookmarks but feels good to have them all in one place..
