Looking back at the amazing UI/UX proposal Vlad shared back in 2023 it makes me sad to see this still open and the likely implication that it probably just won't ever happen.

It sounds like it’ll happen, but they just don’t see it as being a high priority item.

sarno I have and as someone working full time on comparably sized software projects his response is pretty much the equivalent of "that point is noted but won't likely appear on any roadmap for years". The umbrella response "we want to focus on stability and performance for now" is just a convenient way of phrasing it. You can always focus on performance and stability withouth ever finishing that goal 100% 😉

Is there any update to this feature? The UX was done 2 years ago.

DaveOrion Yeah I'm anxious for it too. Part of why I switched to Arc so long ago was being able to keep everything on the side; now that it's all but dead, I need an alternative. Orion checks nearly every box and god I'd kill for this as I don't like having the Bookmark bar open, I'd buy both lifetime and make a donation if it meant it'd happen.

alexanderhblack fully agree, Orion is so close. All I'm missing right now is folders and the ability to auto-close tabs but have it keep the folders and pinned.

There is a chrome/edge extension called Auto Tab group, which just picks the domain name of the website and clubs them together with different colour. I love it so much that I went back to edge just to use the same, that extension doesn't work in orion ofc. If we could replicate those or make orion work with it, life would be so much easier. I can understand the near-term goal of squashing bugs and making the app more stable and consistent.

Let's hope that is measured in weeks and not months.

Hope this is coming soon, trying to ditch Arc for something like Orion (or hopefully a WebKit browser) and this is something that would really make the transition easier!

The lack of proper folders and native tab naming continues to be the reason I'm not using Orion regularly. I hope at some point this becomes a reality, it sure seems like there's a lot of user interest.

Hi! I recommend you try this Zen Divider extension! You can rename a tab to whatever name you want and use it as a parent tab. Here it is: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zendivider/

@Vlad Wanted to bump this as Orion is now out of beta (congrats! 🎉). I feel this would be very helpful for Arc users looking to make the offical switch to Orion
