Spectral I believe they originally said something about the possibility of it becoming open source however I don't think it will be anytime soon, if at all.

      Spectral Being open source does not help Chromium to be either secure or privacy respecting (it probably has the worst security and privacy record).

      Note that Safari and Safari Technology Preview (presumeably your previous browser) are both neither open source or in App Store.

      There are 2000 open issues on this site - we are trying to be practical focus on things that actually move the needle for users in practice.

          Vlad Does Orion have good privacy? It’s more about the uncertainty of Orion’s privacy and whether the browser is doing things the users are not aware of. Could you provide insight into these concerns?

              Spectral Orion is a zero telemetry browser which is ultimate privacy respecting feature you can have in a browser. And this is simple to verify independetly.

                Spectral I can say as an Orion user, if you look at the network activity of Orion with something like Little Snitch, you will see that it “calls home” almost never, only to check for updates. This alone is very reassuring

                    Dustin It does not even check for updates until you permit it to do so, That is what zero telemetry by default means.

                        Vlad I appreciate the work. I enjoy using the browser and the search engine and look forward to seeing them advance in the future.

                          I like how the zero telemetry thing is front and center on some of the marketing materials, and is the first time I have heard of the term, or what it meant. That's why I started using Orion, and I think the more your marketing team keeps driving that message the greater the adoption rate will be when 1.0 is ready
