On my iPad, I’ve turned on Browser Lock, and also selected the option to Lock Only Private Tabs:
I then created a couple of tab groups, so my Tab Groups window looked like this, with 1 open normal tab, 1 private tab, and two tab groups, each containing one or two tabs.
The following all works as expected:
- Switching from the non-grouped, non-private tab (“1 Tab” in the screenshot above) to the Private tab presents an unlock Face ID prompt
- Switching from either tab group (“News” or “Test”) to the Private tab presents an unlock Face ID prompt
- Switching from the Private tab back to “1 Tab” does not present an unlock prompt
- Switching from “1 Tab” to the “News” or “Test” tab groups does not present an unlock prompt
Unexpected behavior: However, switching from “News” back to “1 Tab” does show an unlock, which is not expected since this is not a private tab. This seems like a bug.
I do not have any third party extensions installed.
I would have expected switching from a tab group back to a non-grouped, non-private tab to work without showing an unlock gate since no private tabs are involved in that switch, and I have enabled the setting to Lock Only Private Tabs. The fact that an unlock prompt is showing seems like an error.
