  • Compact Layout: Traffic Lights shift Address Bar and Tabs when Fullscreen

  • BugsDesktopNofix

1) Put Orion in Fullscreen mode and use Compact layout.
2) Open 3-5 tabs
3) Move your pointer to the menu bar
4) Traffic Light controls will appear, shifting the Address Bar and tabs over to the right

It's very easy to accidentally trigger the fullscreen traffic light buttons when moving your pointer to the toolbar to select something. This is fine when it only shifts the buttons on the left side of the toolbar, but in the new Compact layout it shifts the Address Bar and tabs to the right as well. These shouldn't shift over as sometimes it can lead to accidentally closing a tab or selecting a different tab than you intended.

singularitti No, in Safari the toolbar buttons shift but not the URL bar or tabs.

EDIT: Actually Safari does but only when the toolbar is full of tabs. In Orion it's shifting even if there's only one tab open.

We now align compact tabs to the left by default, so the traffic lights will always move the compact tab+address bar to the left while in fullscreen mode

astruckm Yeah I get that but I think you could temporarily shrink the URL bar by the same width that the traffic lights take up when this happens. It won't help with any buttons to the left of the URL bar but it would help prevent misclicks and accidental closure of tabs as everything to the right side of URL bar would remain in place.
