  • Closed tabs spontaneously reopening in a different tab group

I have categorised tab groups on my iPad. Today the Orion app has re-opened a multitude of closed tabs that were not even open in this tab section to start with. It’s painful closing lots of tabs again when they should be closed already. (It has reopened 70 tabs from other tab groups). Screenshot from iphone because it’s easier to see tab total and they have now synced across devices.

Closed tabs should not reopen. Closed tabs from other tab groups should not re-open in a different tab when switching to that tab group. Closed tabs should stay closed and stop haunting me.

    For added context I am expecting to see about 3-5 tabs in this tab group.

          Hi Vlad, I could not reproduce it earlier but it just happened again. I had left Orion app open on my ipad and left it on a tab group (rather than the unsaved group of tabs at the top of the list). I closed my ipad for a couple of hours. I have come back and clicked on a link in Messages, which has automatically opened this link in the tab group I previously had open. However, the browser has now spontaneously opened a massive number of tabs in that group as well. I had about 18 tabs open and now there are 105 in just that group. I think it is only happening if Orion is left on one of these sub-tab groups.

            Flick Step by step instructions to reproduce would be best. Otherwise not even sure how to start figuring out what is happening.

                1. Open a tab group in the Orion browser on ipad.
                2. Open a Kagi search page
                3. Leave Orion running in background - make sure you have stoped using it while still in a tab group
                4. Make sure any URLs on ipad are set to open in Orion by default
                5. Find a hyperlink in Messages app to click on and click on the link to open it
                6. Orion browser now overwrites Kagi search page with an extra 100+ open tabs

                  After I followed those steps I had over a hundred tabs open in my “News” tab group instead of 2. Because my iPhone and iPad are synced, it is fastest to close the extra tabs on my iPhone. You can see what happens though in the screen recording - all I am doing is clicking on the “x’s” to close the extra tabs. Orion browser is spontaneously reopening them just about as fast as I can close them.

                    And here is me now trying to close all the tabs except the two news sites and re-load the two news site homepages. The Orion browser is re-opening tabs even while I am trying to type this. I now have 100+ tabs open again.
