anton Closing and reopening saved window fixes the issue, but loses expanded/collapsed state of the hierarchy (hierarchy seems to be preserved, but everything is collapsed and unloaded).

Everything described in the original post and subsequent comment(s) only pertains to the outcome of having attempted to close an unloaded tab tree.
Vlad anton What I am looking for in steps to reproduce is starting with a new clean Orion profile, what do I need to do to get to the state you describe. That will involve steps like open this URL, click on this link etc. The symptops are obvious from the video but we need a way to get there.
