Hi!

Switching to orion from safari. Loved the MacOS experience, but had some minor UX feedback I hope will be considered!

3 things:

  1. The swipe left gesture isn’t as consistent as Safari’s—I feel like I have to “hook” and “confirm” the fact that I’ll go back, but I never experienced anything similar with Safari. specifically, i think swipe should be detected 15-25% of the screen width on the left.

  2. Swipe up to view previews—Currently, tab switching is slow and unintuitive, and doesn’t offer visual feedback to know where you’re going. Behaving identically to Safari’s swipe up gesture would most likely be helpful, although I recognize this may come with performance considerations. I have literal hundreds of safari tabs, so navigating between them intuitively is of high importance, personally.

  3. Open in new tab opens in background. Unsure if that’s the best default—On both PC and Mobile, I expect to go to the new tab I opened, and opening in the background be a deliberate decision. However, super super subjective, obviously, and configurable, so no biggie.

Know these are minor nitpicks. They just reflect my iOS onboarding experience. I wouldn’t have submitted this if I wasn’t so impressed with the mac version.

I think above should cover it? I hope?

Thank you for creating this software, and not mandatorily charging people. Kagi subscriber for last 3 months 🙂

    nice

Thanks for taking time to drop in.

    Quick comments:

    1. It would be useful to show a video of comparing the two as dealing with 'feelings' is not discrete enough
    2. Not sure what you mean by this. Tab switching should be same in safari (but happens on swipe left/right, not swipe up so I am confused)
    3. I think Safari does not have the option at all to open a new tab and go to it? We made it open in background as it is more common way (for example open all links you want to read on a page while staying on a page)

    Most importantly:
Please submit one bug report/feature suggestion per post. This makes for better reports and allows us to keep discussion focused. I will mark this as done and count on you opening seperate reports for things you care enough for.

    Cheers!
