Thank you for developing a WebKit-based alternative to Firefox and Chromium-based browsers! I have only recently discovered Orion browser, and, so far, I like what I see: vertical tabs, profiles, and workspaces are the features I really appreciate.
But, I am also expecting a fast, lightweight, energy-efficient browser. I want to ditch Firefox, but keep going back to it (from a privacy standpoint and its really small update sizes). I begrudgingly use Safari, because I don't have to disable a bunch of security/privacy settings that I enabled in Firefox. In other words, Safari is uncluttered and easy to use. And, although Vivaldi is a chromium-based browser (which I want to avoid), there is a love/hate relationship that I have with it (chromium and React UI - not a true native app; huge update sizes).
After browsing the feature requests and roadmap, I am concered that Orion will turn into some huge, slow, bloated browser. I don't want Orion to become something like a vehicle from a Mad Max movie.
So, is a base feature list already set so a 1.0 release can come sooner than later? I would rather have solid underpinnings than a bunch of bling. The bling can come later, can't it?
At release 1.0, I would like to personally just be able to use Orion as my daily driver, and be able to use it as I would Safari or Firefox, knowing that I can log in to various sites like e-mail, financial, payment processors like Paddle, Stripe, etc. without failing miserably.
But, it is great to see the enthusiasm of the community regarding Orion! The plethora of requests shows it.
Thank you for allowing this opportunity for feedback and questions.
Here is to a robust, stable, and lightweight 1.0 release. 🙂
