An ability to rename tabs, to make the experience more personalized for the user
Should be able to rename tabs!!
Vlad This is amazing, but I really wish it could persist. As of right now, I will have multiple tabs that have the same name for the page, but I need to be able to distinguish. A persistent naming system would be amazing.
whitemamba I agree, and so probably 1000 other suggestions on the forum but we have to prioritize and this has only two upvotes while not being trivial at all..
true! perhaps in the future also the ability to auto-name tabs automatically in a meaningful way so that it differentiates tabs that normally would have very similar names eg "Youtube (52) - ..." and would look identical in the list.
I also use "empty start-pages" as root folders to organize tabs into groups (haven't decided what's the best way to do this) - would be nice if I could give them (manually or automatically) a unique name - eg. "youtube videos" or "reddit search for NAS" etc
One of Arc features is that users are able to rename opened, pinned, favourited tabs. That's great if I've multiple open tabs within the same website, so favicon is the same.
I like this, vivaldi has implemented something similar, they call it "tab nickname"
Murko @RihardsVeters You can do it with solution here until native

Also see the very good tab naming implementation in Tabs Outliner chrome extension. It is an overlay, so we can see our custom name and also the real title.
The best argument for renaming is that tab groups are clunky, difficult to use and not nestable or drag and drop, have a different context/UI, etc.
Tabs tree is very fast. If we could create a great many tab nests in a tab group, and name them and save them, we could have a whole lot of organization.
In Tabs Outliner, this effectively collapses three annoyingly discrete overlapping browser functions into a single entity: bookmarks, tabs and history.
I have 20-30k tabs, by project or topic, most I have not opened in forever but they are there when I need them. This may sound crazy if you have not tried it, but Tabs Outliner has 100k users who swear by this way of working.
Orion is the first browser to have native tree tabs, and lacks only a few more details from TO to allow me to kick the chrome habit for good.
