  • Vertical tabs don't reappear after switching sidebar back from "tabs" to "windows"

  • BugsDesktopPlanned

What happened? How did it happen? What are the steps to replicate the issue.
TL;DR: The Sidebar view must be changed via the "View" menu instead of the drop-down menu to have horizontal tabs reappear.

  1. Open Sidebar

  2. Switch to "Tabs" via drop-down menu (see screenshot)

  3. Horizontal Tabs disappear and vertical tabs appear in the sidebar. Good : )

  4. Switch Sidbar from "Tabs" to "Windows" (via drop-down)

  5. Saved Windows appear but horizontal tabs don't reappear .

Fix:

  1. Klick "View" > "Show Vertical Tabs Sidebar"
  2. Sidebar view stays unchanged but the horizontal Tabs reappear.

horizontal tabs reappearing after changing Sidebar view from "Tabs" back to "Windows" via drop-down menu.

What version of Orion are you running?
Version 0.99.125-beta

Experiencing same issue on Orion RC (Version 0.99.125.7-rc (WebKit 618.1.1))

strain @adkiem Actually I realized that you need to click "Use Horizontal Tabs" after clicking "Windows" and the horizontal tabs will reappear.

strain oh, thanks for pointing that out. You are, of course, right! However, letting them reappear automatically also when changing back to windows could be a desired behavior.

          Cna you summarize the ask?

Vlad If you switch from "Windows" to "Tabs" view the horizontal tabs disappear. When You switch back from "Tabs" to "Windows" one additionally needs to change from "Use vertical tabs" to "Use Horizontal Tabs".

Also, I quite like safaris behaviour of letting "unfold" your tab-groups which makes changing the sidebar view from "windows" to "tabs" obsolete and also lets you drag and drob tabs between differenzt tab groups. This makes it easy for me to rearrange my different tab groups, representing different tasks, topics or researches where I might discover something in tab group A that later on is better to be in tab group B.

But this is only loosley related to this topic and might be more of a feature request.

Anyways, great work you all did so far with Orion!
