Orion for Linux

I must say I am really not a fan of it looking like it’s only made for Gnome or resembling MacOS, the last thing I’d want my linux to be is MacOS.

Will it be changed or be customisable? This Gnome look doesn’t fit into my KDE d.e. at all

InternetChunk While I agree and I even derailed the thread a bit a while back (sorry guys) over it, I think the first step is to get this on Linux. With the fast rise of KDE over the last few years, I would certainly want a more native look on there as well, but I want Orion on Linux more at this time.

Yannick It is very beautiful. I wanted to use a browser that looked native on my GNOME desktop, but Epiphany/GNOME Web does not work very well with extensions yet. So I'm using Firefox with a GNOME theme. Can't wait to try Orion for Linux 😃

Just to be clear, I'm not a member of the Kaqi team, just a big fan of what they're trying to do. I have a suggestion for those of us who support their work. Let's get as many of us as possible to subscribe to their monthly or annual service. I understand that the lifetime subscription is their best offer, but I think that's a short-term commitment. A monthly and annual subscription is ongoing support for the Kaqi team, which they deserve, and for us, it's certainly a pleasure to anticipate the development of their work. Just my opinion, nothing personal 🙂. Good luck everyone.

For those people that are impatient (including me!!!), just remember that the other Linux WebKit browser (epiphany/gnome web) has been around for a long time and is STILL very crashy and has underwhelming features.

It must take a lot of work and time to get everything working properly without crashing, and then adding lots of features on top of it. Huge respect to the Orion team for dealing with the challenges of making a WebKit browser on Linux.

I saw this on r/linux and had to comment.
This is incredible, I have used Orion on macOS already and really liked it.

However, nowadays I use Gnome as my main desktop environment and having a WebKit and native looking browser would be really nice, the first screenshots are very promising!

I do know about GNOME Web, but it is sadly not as stable as I need a web browser to be.

Of course I signed up for the newsletter and I'm looking forward to the first alpha release!

We're currently testing the first Alpha version internally and we'll slowly open up the next versions to interested people. You'll learn more here too 😉

Yannick Sounds exciting, honestly can't wait but the slowly implies to me the initial alpha version won't be available to everyone right away, can you elaborate on that or is the how still up for debate internally?
