oxmynx If you find that a bookmark from Mac is not showing up on Orion iOS, try force-quitting the Orion iOS and see if it shows up after. That works for me sometimes.

Arc for example uses icloud syncing and is instant and very reliable.

Does it sync comparable things (all tabs/bookmarks?)

Can you set up an experiment that could reproduce this from scratch - Arc clean install Orion install, both enable iCloud, and then both verified for sync on a new computer.

Maybe there is something to what you say but we would like to validate it is a thing and that we are comparing apples and apples.

I just rebuilt one of my machines with both Orion RC and Arc and can report that both are unreliable during the initial iCloud sync (I have a lot of files on iCloud drive) but after that Arc is effectively instant where as Orion seems hung for hours / days on sync. Based on @Dustin and others reports, I'm going to try wiping and starting over with Orion RC and see if that resolves the issue.

After removing Orion RC and reinstalling it, the problem is resolved and synching is working as expected. I suspect a possible problem could have been related to the fact that I had Orion still installed (and synching) when I installed RC.

MisterTwo We would appreciate a reproducible report or anything that would point towards one browsers' iCloud implementiotion being superior/inferior. Armed with that we can go back and identify/fix things.

@Vlad will do. So far the best example of what I see as the application not doing enough vs iCloud is on iOS/iPadOS. My bookmarks or windows from other devices will be out of date. Force quitting the iOS app and re-loading it will result in everything being back up to date.

My best guess is this shows that the data is there on device via iCloud, but the app hasn't refreshed it, forcing a cold start causes Orion to fetch the latest data from iCloud which gets everything back in sync.

Still trying to make a reproducible workflow for macOS.

MisterTwo I do not think Arc is avaialble on iPad? When we say reproduce by comparison I mean compared to another app where sync in same circumstances works, so we can repeat that step by step and establish that Orion indeed is/is not doing something sub-optimal or wrong.

@Vlad ah ok, sorry I was trying to consistently reproduce on Orion. Arc is easy to reproduce.

Install Arc on two Macs and an iOS device
On one Mac open several tabs, build a space, etc
Arc on the second Mac and iOS will show those tabs when opening the browser on those devices nearly instantly. I can record a video if needed.

MisterTwo Yes doing a video of those actions with both a clean Orion and clean Arc install would be immensely helpful (nobody did this before).

@Vlad FYI sync is working great across all macOS and iOS devices in the latest RC and testflight builds. Encrypted sync seems to have resolved the slowness I was experiencing. So far at least tab syncing is instant just like Arc now. Another HUGE quality of life improvement for Orion, great job to you and the team!

Thanks for confirming, that was one of the goals of the overhaul.
