Orion won't start after Sonoma install

What happened? How did it happen? What are the steps to replicate the issue.
The standard install of Orion simply won't start under Sonoma. No windows appear, app simply freezes before doing anything, have to Force Quit. No obvious way to install any other Orion version, as I was asked once to install RC version, and apparently clicking Cancel was treated as an irrevocable permanent decision. Regrettably going back to Safari until you fix this, or possibly for good. Unimpressed.

What did you expect to happen? Describe the desired functionality.
I expected Orion to open. Like apps do.

I'm sure the devs will be along soon with some ideas but in the meantime perhaps you could try installing the Sonoma-specific build?

Dustin I installed the Sonoma version, that’s what my post is referencing. I’m very disappointed — I was growing attached to Orion and now I’ve had to go back to Safari (and occasionally Chrome), losing months of bookmark customization in the process.

nashwaak I didn't see anywhere in your post that you installed the Sonoma-specific build, which is why I mentioned it.

On the downloads page you can see there's a generic installer which will install the correct build for you but there are also version-specific installers below.

The version I linked above is this: https://cdn.kagi.com/downloads/14_0/Orion.dmg
It's different from the OrionInstaller.dmg at the top of the list. I just thought that might be worth a try. You can try updating and overwriting the existing installed version with the 14_0 one there.

If you ever tried to install Orion RC, that is not going to install over top of your main Orion app. It's treated as a separate app.

Just throwing some ideas around for you. Not speaking on behalf of the Orion team.

I have somewhat a similar problem. I wanted to re-install RC on my Mac. So I deleted the app, restarted and then downloaded again the Orion RC Installer. During the installation the installer asked if I want to update to the latest version. I clicked "Skip this version as I wanted to keep the previous one" and since then I am unable to launch RC. Whenever I open Orion RC, a blank app called Kagi, without any active window opens, without me being able to do anything with it. Also deleting and reinstalling RC doesn't help. I only get this weird Kagi app (4.5 MB) with the Orion RC logo but without anything else. Obviously, the main Orion works.

oxmynx Posting in an issue marked as done (closed) will not help.

Recommendation is to open a new bug report, provide whatever steps to reproduce it.
