Watching a video on YouTube or using a page that requires real-time updating such as app.element.io on 0.99.125.4-rc, the pages appear to lose connection sporadically and require refreshing.

Version 0.99.125.4-rc (WebKit 617.1.6)
Build date Sep 27 2023
MacBook Air (macOS Sonoma 14.1 beta build 23B5046f) (Also happened on Sonoma 14.0 stable)

There is also some delay with regards to scrolling and text input such as when I am filling out this report but I can't give a reliable report on that right now.

Got a video freeze and capped these errors:

        Description:
While watching YouTube videos and Twitch livestreams, I've noticed intermittent video and audio stuttering. These interruptions briefly pause and repeat both the visual and audio content of the current video or livestream.

I've tested with a clean profile and no extensions, but the issue persists. It may also affect other sites.

        Steps to reproduce:

        1. Navigate to Youtube and/or. Twitch
        2. Search for and play any video or livestream of your choice.
        3. Observe the video playback for any brief interruptions or repetitions in the audio, which may occur at any point during the video or livestream.

        Expected behavior:
Video and audio playback on YouTube and Twitch should be consistently smooth and uninterrupted, without any intermittent stuttering.

Leirk I have not experienced these. You did not specify if you are using any extensions - can youreproduce this in a new clean orion profile?

Vlad I apologize for not specifying earlier that I haven't enabled any extensions, and I even cleared all cookies and website data to rule out any potential causes.

To provide additional details, I did test it in a new clean profile, and the issue persisted even in that environment. This suggests that it may not be related to any specific settings or extensions within the browser.

I can confirm I have also experienced these hiccups playing video and may be related to #6214.

In addition, I see hiccups like this especially in PiP mode on livestreams.

Merged 4 posts from Video Playback Hiccup.

Dustin You are missing key information - are you using extensions (that could cause this). Can you reproduce this on a new clean orion profile? Can you record a video of this happening? Anything else that can help us reporduce the issue.

Vlad Apologies, I am only using Bitwarden but I can reproduce on a clean profile with no extensions and will attempt to record it happening.

Ok, I left YouTube running to try and capture a freeze. I could only get it after it froze but the sound kept playing, the video got stuck in theatre mode and was unresponsive. You can see the loading icon for the comments also spinning. Refreshing the page will restore functionality.

                    The only extension is Bitwarden.

                      Additional clip.

                      • Watch video in theatre mode (T key)
                      • Video pauses to buffer, spinning wheel
                      • Switch back to default view
                      • Video resumes

It appears to be a similar behaviour to #3293 come to think of it

                        Two additional errors:

Loaded up this streaming page but did not start the video. Came back to it a few minutes later and the error message above was displayed and the page was frozen

                        Same here on app.element.io

The page was frozen/unresponsive with this JavaScript error

Issue appears to be fixed in 0.99.125.5-rc.
