...even if this results in empty space at the bottom. This is already done in Firefox and makes it easier to close multiple tabs in a row.

Comparison:

Obviously, if you close the current tab using Cmd+W, this shouldn't apply. The scrolling position should be reset to normal if the mouse pointer leaves the tab list (as shown in the video) or if the user opents a new tab using a shortcut like Cmd+T.
