For quite some time now, I've noticed some weird behavior with third party apps when using Orion's completion menu. For instance, yabai attempts to set the transparency of the completion menu (which it's only supposed to do for non-active windows), and hitting the hotkey for alt-tab just closes Orion's completion menu instead of switching to my last used window.
It seems the reason for this is that Orion creates a temporary window to display search completions, which causes bad interactions with applications that manage windows. This differs from Safari, which does not create a new window for suggestions.
Steps to reproduce:
- Type something into the search bar to bring up search suggestions
- An additional temporary window with the title "completions" is created
- I am able to confirm this by running
$ sleep 5 && yabai -m query --windows to query all the active windows
Expected behavior:
For no new temporary windows to be created
