Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have a few tabs open
  2. Try clearing the cache
  3. Everything appears fine until trying to switch to a different tab. The UI becomes extremely laggy and/or freezes completely.
  4. Upon restarting the app, Orion takes an extended period of time to restore tabs.

    @ForumNinja404 what exactly is meant by "clearing the cache"? Are you referring to the "Website Caches" option after choosing "Clear History and Websites Data" in the Settings screen?

      nanoscrew Yes, that is correct. If you aren’t seeing the lag, try navigating between tabs.

          ForumNinja404 I couldn’t figure this one out, but then it hit me. If I change New Tabs Open With to Homepage instead of Startpage, it’s much better for me. Same for you?

              sbeaz Nope, it appears to work but ends up crashing a few seconds later. Makes no difference.

                  Thanks @sbeaz and @ForumNinja404, I'm now able to reproduce the issue. The key is having enough items in your start page to trigger the hang. My original test device only had a handful. My main device with dozens of items (favorites/frequently-visited/folders, etc) hangs as you describe, after clearing cache. This may have something to do with why not loading startpage on new tabs helped @sbeaz.

                    nanoscrew I noticed that simply hiding the items on the start page is not enough. Having favorites (I have 12) causes a crash regardless. It’s unclear if other things like bookmarks affect the freezing. Thanks for looking into it.
