I accidentally swiped right on a tab and it closed. Users are bound to do accidental taps and swipes when using iPhones one-handed, especially the larger ones. Under settings > gestures, there could be an option to disable swiping to close tabs, and users can just press the X button to do so.
Make gesture swiping to close tabs less sensitive in tab overview (in line with Safari)
Oneechan69 What gesture is this and does Safari have it too?
I believe they're referring to the swipe left/right to close tab when in tab overview
eirk They are. In Safari, swiping left is the only way to close a tab. In Orion, both directions work and are super sensitive which makes it easier to accidentally close tabs.
So is the problem that this gesture exists or that it is sensitive? What is the ask?
Vlad Yeah its that, I still want an option to disable the gesture and just close the tabs with the x button. The gesture is very sensitive too.
Oneechan69 There is no option to disable the gesture in Safari and people seem to be fine with that. So the ask is really to make it less sensitive, same as Safari?

Vlad Even if its not an option with Safari, there are users like me that would really like it. It's like saying "there's no support for Firefox and Chrome extensions [or insert another feature here] in Safari and people seem to be fine with that", most non power users are OK with just Safari addons, or even no addons!
Vlad The ask is to make it less sensitive, similar to the points I outlined in a related suggestion.
This should have been a toggle like originally suggested. Some people like myself open many tabs a day for work and making them harder to swipe close isn’t helpful.
You could also make it a slider for how much sensitivity
