Steps to reproduce:

I signed up of Orion+ and Orion still prompts me to join Orion+.

  1. Sign up for Orion Plus
  2. Click on the link to download OrionRC
  3. Download and install OrionRC.
  4. Open it. Nothing happens for 10 seconds. It asks to download update despite you downloaded it just now:

Then it starts downloading OrionRC, over what appears to be the slowest connection in the solar system, like downloading from server located on the moon. 180 MB download takes an hour.

Expected behavior:

  • Download the latest version from Plus subscription link.
  • OrionRC icon could be different colour to make it distinct from regular Orion app.
  • Orion knows that I subscribed for Orion+ and don't prompt me.

    I agree it's not the clearest system ever, especially with the prominent download links rarely being the latest version.

    However, the OrionRC icon is different, it's Navy Blue/Really Dark Purple compared to Orion's Purple. Unless your mac isn't refreshing icons, you must be opening the wrong program. Keep in mind RC is an entirely different app to Orion, not an "Update".

    You don't mention where or when you are still being prompted to join Orion+, I've personally never seen that on RC.

    Also yes the download can be slow, however 0.4 Mbps is strangely low, likely either a high traffic period, something out of the ordinary on the CDN side or your own internet.

      ok_computer You are correct, we have still not polished the experience for Orion+ users. We ask for a bit more patience.

      The download should not be slow. Can oyu try downloading this file directly from our CDN.

      If it is still slow please give us more information about your region and ISP and if possible try with a different provider (for example on your phone through 5G).

      Orion RC is a different icon. Orion on the left, RC on the right.

      Orion RC still does not know you purchased it but we plan to integrate this in the next release.
