Brief Summary
Suspending tabs is a great feature and when you don't use a low power mode and need to suspend more than one tab it takes more time because you have to right click every tab then tap suspend. (screenshot 1) What I suggest is making an easier way to do the same procedure.

Details:
As an example I could suggest adding a custom shortcut: as an example "Shift + Tap the tab you want to suspend". Right, shift key might be already taken, though we could do something like "CMD + Shift" or "Option", which usually has hidden features.

Or add the same ability to tab overview (screenshot 2). We already have the feature to close tabs there why not make a feature for suspending them? For example a little "–" in the opposite side of "x"

  • I do not know the definitive list of hotkeys across Orion so my suggestion might clash with an existing one. I would be happy with CMD + Option + S but open to anything really.

On chrome I had an extension that would suspend all tabs across all windows. Was great for freeing up memory. In particular it avoided suspending tabs that had edited form fields.

Maybe "suspend all tabs" in a context menu would be useful.

    Low power mode is not the same as what the OP asked for..

    I would also really like this. I have a lot of tabs open and sometimes there's one of them drawing a lot of CPU power even though I'm not using it. But in order to find which one I have to manually suspend each and every tab.

    This is not the same as "Low power mode" since:

    1: Low power mode does not hibernate pinned tabs.
    2: Having to turn on and off "Low power mode" to suspend all my tabs seems not ideal.

    Why not just have a menu option (and a keyboard shortcut ideally) to "Suspend all tabs"?

        There already is the option to suspend the current tab in the menu Window.

        Would make sense to have suspend all tabs there.

        Honestly, having a hotkey to suspend tab would be killer.

                Window->Suspend Tab can be used to add your own shortcut

                      Fortrikka That is a separate issue. pretty sure there already is a post for it too.

                          eirk Is suspend shortcut not really important enough like Edge or Firefox to have a dedicated shortcut? Do those browsers have dedicated shortcuts pre-configured by default?
