Brief Summary
In desktop browsers and other mobile browsers (Safari, Firefox, etc.) there is the option to not block pop-ups either for the specific website or overall. This is useful when interacting with websites that require popups to function.
Orion mobile currently does not offer such an option. (Turning off content blockers does not allow popups.)
The default behavior of blocking all pop-ups remains desired but, Orion should allow for enabling pop-ups.

Details:
"When would a user use this feature?":

  • When they navigate to a site that requires pop-ups to properly function.
    • Personally I have found multiple sites, such as electric utility providers, that require this to open bills/invoices or related documents.

"How would they use this feature?":

  • By enabling a setting to "allow pop-ups" or disabling a setting to "block pop-ups" (similar to Safari / Firefox) in either the main settings or site settings (like how they can disable javascript / turn off content blockers).

"What is the expected behavior?":

  • Once the user adjusts the setting to allow / not block pop-ups, pop-ups should be allowed to open (ideally as a new tab).

This should be a global website setting like it is on desktop Orion.

Important thing to note is adding some kind of notiacation that a popup was blocked so that user can enable it (this is noteably missing in desktop too).

How did you manage to make Orion block popups though? I'm going crazy on my iPad because it doesn't block popups at all and I want it to :/
Even with "full" ad blocking, they still pop up.

Strange, has been blocking things consistently for me.
Out of curiosity could you provide an example URL that is giving you troubles?

For ads I also use an old app called "AdBlock" by "FutureMind", which configures a local VPN sinkhole, to great success but I don't know if you can do that on iPads.

Vlad Making it a global setting is a horrible idea. It should be able to be applied by domain. Otherwise it's !@#$ing annoying having to allow a popup everytime I click a link in my web app that opens a preview of the page.

I don't want pop ups on <insert random garbage ad ridden google result> but I do want them on my trusted sites that I pick. Making it a global option or an annoying nag I have to do EVERYTIME a pop up is required is maddening and again a horrible idea.

If this is the logic behind decisions here on this browser, honestly good riddance.
