Brief Summary
Orion should be able to use other iOS apps as content blockers.

Details:
On iOS, Safari is able to use other apps (Firefox Focus, Adguard, etc.) as content blockers. This is particularly helpful since some of these apps may already contain a curated and very customised list of blocked URLs or domains.
It would be really useful to be able to load these apps as blockers on Orion as well. This is a separate issue from Orion's built-in blocking list, as it really allows per-user customisation.

Marco Can you suggest UI for this as well as example (screenshot) from any non-Apple that does this.

it’s not possible for apps with safari extensions to work on 3rd party browsers. This is an iOS limitation. You are better off voting for custom blocklists in Orion’s native content blocker or using a tool like Next DNS to block things system wide via the network.

Vlad Not really, as this is a Safari feature (and it seems like it might not be able to work on non-Safari browsers). But to me, this is one of the very reasons I've stuck with Safari: I have very detailed rules in adguard and they work perfectly in Safari. If Orio was to bring this in, then I would no longer need Safari.

Marco Not sure how can Orion bring this if iOS limits it. Our ad-blocker should be on par with ad-guard if not better out of the box. Rules should become an Orion feature rendering ad-guard obsolete.

these apps you mention come with (packaged) safari extensions. safari extensions can not be used on orion. it's not something that might be possible with a lot of developer effort, its something that just isn't possible

Because it’s impossible, what if we do the opposite? The Kagi search extension could provide Orion’s content blockers to Safari.
