Enable HDR video playback, as I'm not able to right now. Safari doesn't have the option either so is this a webkit issue? I'm not too sure. If this is a limitation of this / Apple's fault then feel free to remove / archive this post.

No option for HDR present in Orion.

This is a strange one, as I'm pretty sure it worked before in Orion (i.e. a regression).

It works in Firefox currently, although I can also confirm that HDR doesn't seem to work in Safari Tech Preview.

Historically it looks like Youtube has done UA sniffing for this ( but this "fix" no longer seems to do anything in Safari.

I have HDR available on YouTube with Orion beta & RC on Sonoma beta. If you have optimized video streaming enabled, it will only work on AC power.

I can also confirm it works in Safari and Safari Technology preview.

DOH!

Yup, confirmed working on Ventura on RC... After turning off the optimized video streaming setting...

(My excuse - I recently wiped and was restoring settings manually)

@okimilktea can you try checking that setting in System Preferences > Battery (or plug into AC power and check if the setting appears - just hitting refresh on the page should work).

Dustin Hey! It works, thanks. Not sure why it's toggled on by default anyways. Also strange, but unrelated: not sure why YT doesn't have a HDR toggle.
