  • Hitting Cmd-Enter to open URL in new tab also changes URL of current tab

  • BugsDesktopDone

Steps to reproduce:

  1. From any tab in Orion, go to the address bar and type in a URL and press Cmd-Enter
  2. On my machine, the URL opens in a new tab, but it also changes the URL of the current tab

Expected behavior:
The URL should open in a new tab. The current tab's URL shouldn't change.

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Version 0.99.124.3-beta (WebKit 616.1.14.11.1)
MacBook Pro (macOS Ventura 13.2.1 build 22D68)

ss62 I can not reproduce that, but I can see that we are keeping the URLin the address bar after cmd enter where we should return the user to the original URL (like Safari does)

OK interesting to hear you can't reproduce it - could be some other 3rd party utility I have installed that might be interfering when I press Cmd+Enter. I've attached a screen recording of what it looks like to reproduce on my machine:

Hi @ss62 , would it be possible for you to attempt to reproduce this bug in a new, clean profile? I'm unable to reproduce (attaching screen recording below showing my experience), and I'm wondering if it's possible one of your extensions is somehow dismissing or adusting the locationbar editing views prematurely after hitting Cmd+Enter.

nanoscrew I can reproduce, the typed text stays after cmd enter, where as safari clears it and returns to original url

Hi @nanoscrew - I just tried it in a new profile with no extensions and it still exhibits the same behavior (see screen recording). If you can't reproduce it either, then it very well could be an issue with some other 3rd party utility on my machine like Karabiner Elements that may be causing this issue. I will try to find some time to test this out on a fresh macOS account without any 3rd party software installed and see what happens.
