It seems performance is still worse, although not to the point that the browser is unusable.
Atrocious performance with Dashlane Chrome extension
Performance drops seem to vary from page to page but generally I have to disable it to enjoy using the browser still.
Performance problems are still present — it just slowly becomes annoyingly slow enough that I have to disable it until I have to login somewhere.
This is pretty bad, I can’t normally use the extension for service I pay for. Would be grateful for solving this issue. I’m considering moving back to Safari because of this.
ntoxeg I am in the same boat. dashlane, when activated, is super slow and laggy, unusable and unable to autofill. When enabled, it slows down the browser often making the whole application freeze for minutes on end. cpu and gpu temperatures go high, fans start spinning, performance is throttled. I never leave the extension enabled for more than a few minutes, if I do, I'll be caught out, and it will take me minutes to disable it, because even browser menus become laggy.
For all practical web survival purposes, I have to copy an paste passwords from an independent dashlane app.
I'd support on Orion+ immediately, but the absence of a plan for Android (I understand the argument why, so I don't need repeating thanks!), and this issue with Dashlane on the desktop experience, are stopping me from committing more seriously to the project. I think I will endure this for a while longer, but eventually, I think password managers must just work for a modern browsing experience it is essential
suggestion for reproduction: open a free trial dashlane account. import your passwords from your other password manager. install the extension and keep enabled as you browse on. see if it freezes.
Fixed in the RC, soon to land in beta.
Wonderful to hear. You don't need to know this I think, but what is worth, I tested that the issue came up both with Chrome and Firefox extensions.
Vlad Thank you for all your work, I admire it.
I definitely did not say it is not worth it to support Orion until it is perfect. The intended meaning, and I would say even the explicit meaning, of my words is quite the opposite than asking for perfection.
I admire your work and I thank you for it.
I guess most people are here to record ux pain points in the hope to be helpful, even if it might not always feel that way to you.
There is still something that does not really work about this extension. I can now pull out passwords, copy and paste, from it if I reach to the extension icon on the bar. But the password auto-filling (in suitable page fields, a dashlane icon shows up offering to auto fill in the field) almost never works, it just hangs on circling around, I am sorry I can't add more
