Steps to reproduce:

  1. Ensure the General setting "Orion opens with" is set to "All non-private windows from last session"
  2. Save a window (optionally ensure there are no non-saved tabs - this does not change the outcome)
  3. Quit Orion
  4. Reopen Orion

Expected behavior:
Orion should open with the last opened Window, intead, a blank (homepage, start page, as set) tab opens in a new non-saved tab collection. This differs from the expected behaviour of opening the session as it was last closed in other browsers, as the setting implies.

Additionally, closing the single tab closes the window even after a saved window has been selected and is open.

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Version 0.99.123.3-beta (WebKit 615.1.16.1)
Mac Pro (macOS Ventura 13.2 build 22D49)

    1. Have a window open with some tabs in it. You can do this with as many profiles as you’d like.
    2. Close the windows using the red stoplight button.
    3. Right click the dock and quit all the profiles, or press cmd + q
    4. Reopen Orion and notice all the tabs are gone.
    5. Create some more tabs again
    6. Quit Orion using cmd + q, without pressing the red stoplights first.
    7. Reopen Orion and notice your tabs are restored properly.

This just happened to me now. Also 0.99.123.3-beta, but running Ventura 13.3.1 build 22E261.

Very frustrating — I had about 45 tabs open, keeping my place in various projects. Sigh.

ErikMH Sorry to hear that. Good habit is to "Save the window" with research, this gets it at least synced.

        Steps to reproduce:
Have a "Saved Window" open. close Orion. and open again. Orion will open a new empty window instead of returning to the window i was on

        Expected behavior:

        To open where i left

        Orion, OS version; hardware type:

        Version 0.99.124.3-beta (WebKit 616.1.14.11.1)
MacBook Pro (macOS Monterey 12.6.3 build 21G419)

          Yes!
To demonstrate more detailed, how it's not working "correctly" (my interpretation of the problem):

          1. If you click on the red control button on the top left,
          2. with this setting: Settings... > General, then click Orion opens with: All windows from last session
It will not remember any windows open from last session. This also happens in the Safari browser.
If you choose Quit from the app's menu in the menu bar, or press Command-Q, all the windows from last session will appear.

On my computer this also doesnt work if the window you where on was a "Saved Window"

It woul be great to have an option to select so that when I open Orion it opens either with the last opened workspace (saved window) or with the one I select rather than with a new one.

Merged 2 posts from Option to open orion in a workspace instead of a new window.
Merged 6 posts from Orion doesnt remember what saved window i was on when closing and opening.

Still have this happen to me on 0.99.125.2-rc. I have 2 profiles enabled and it seems to be a coin flip as to which one loses its tabs. Using "reopen last closed window" does restore my lost tabs, but is not always a silver bullet.

I found out this only happens when I use the red stoplight to close windows, and not when I use ⌘ + Q. This is regardless of if I'm using restore all windows or restore all non-private windows.

ForumNinja404 can you please test the same with Safari (with same option)?

As if the window is already closed (by clicking red button), that will not restore. Because only open windows from last session can be restored.
