Steps to reproduce:
Open a Youtube video, if you want the same as my screen recording is this one, open the vertical tabs bar, and leave sound on, then play the video and skip forward on the timeline(this is not a 100%, so you may need a couple of tries, for me 5 tries is enough to see the problem at least once) , then the "flickering" between play and pause in the player button starts, and sometimes the video doesn't play anymore and just stay stucked on this flickering".

Expected behavior:
I expected to be able to skip to any moment in the video without it getting stuck, and in the cases where the video already starts stuck, I expected to be able to watch the videos normaly(press play and the video plays).

Orion, OS version; hardware type:

Version 0.99.124.1-beta (WebKit 616.1.10)
MacBook Pro (macOS Ventura 13.3.1 (a) build 22E772610a)d

Also worth mentioning, when I did the screen recording I already was using a clean profile without any extensions, but I've also seen the bug on a profile used for longer with extensions. About the actual problem, to me it seams as if the browser is "pressing/triggering" the play/pause button really fast, but that doesn't explain the mouse also flickering.

I also have more screen recording of the problem on the same profile where the playback actually hangs and is not able to continue when I skip forward, I couldn't upload beacuse of the file size, but if you think it's necessary I think I can upload do google drive or something and provide a link here.

This was fixed for me randomly today - maybe an update on youtube's end? Video now keeps playing if I click forward or back in the timeline, no pausing. @remerson @shortHairRASTA @Longely can you try the latest RC?

Nevermind, still doing it for me occasionally. I can't figure out the conditions required to make the youtube videos pause, or not.

        Steps to reproduce:

        1. Start playing any Youtube video.

        2. Click anywhere on the scroll bar to move to a later time point in the video.

        3. The video is paused instead of continuing to play from the point where the cursor was moved.

-Enabled compatibility mode, same thing happens.

-Created a new, clean profile, same thing happened.

        -Safari behaves as expected.

-When scrolling with left and right arrows (without using the scroll bar on the bottom of the video) Orion behaves normal as expected, the video does not pause.

        Expected behavior:
Video is not paused but instead plays uninterrupted from the point where the cursor was moved or scrolled.

Youtube videos stop if I fast forward using the mouse.
If i use the keyboard to fast forward it doesn't seem to create this problem.
I have attempted the following steps and still nothing:

          • cleared cache
          • refreshed the page
          • uninstalled all extensions
          • reset the browser as well
The only option that seems to be working is to either refresh the page multiple times or switching user agent to (safari iPhone) -> only safari iPhone doesn't have this issue.

I'm also experiencing this issue and I only have one single extension active/installed. I've tried disabling/enabling all settings for youtube and I can confirm it's an issue related to Orion as I've tried 4 other browsers with no issue.

Is this on the roadmap for a future update?

Vlad Thank you so much for the fix. Now I won't need to run Safari just for YouTube! 🙂
