  • Open links in app menu shows up after external apps are launched

  • BugsMobileDone

Steps to reproduce:

  • Install the reddit app
  • Reddit apps open and the open links options from Orion are shown once returned to Orion

Expected behavior:

  • Orion should show the open links option beforehand

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
iOS 16.4, Orion 1.2.5

Image/Video:
I do one if needed but I guess it is easy to reproduce as it happens with any external app.

There are also additional issues with deep links, for example, I was only able to get this following prompt when I had Apollo & Reddit installed. Sometimes the prompt didn’t show, and after selecting Apollo for future uses, it displayed an error. Overall there seems to be an issues displaying the prompt consistently, and properly forwarding deep links to 3rd party apps.

Here’s how I envision the feature working under-the-hood:

    1. There is a list of supported top-level backlinks
    2. Each of these TLDs has a list of supported 3rd-party apps
    3. When a user first clicks a link to a TLD, they are prompted with an option to redirect it to an app
    4. all future TLDs are swapped with the 3rd party prefix and enter their respective apps
