  • Some websites when viewed on iOS Orion will bring up "connection is not private" warning

  • BugsDesktopMobileDone

Steps to reproduce:
<Include steps to reproduce the bug; Did you try using Compatibility mode (https://help.kagi.com/orion/support-and-community/troubleshooting-webpage-issues.html)? Did you try using a clean Orion Profile? If applicable, does Safari behave in the same way?>

iOS - so no compatibility mode (turning off content blockers do not change result)

Not sure what clean Orion profile is - already have it set to default (whatever it was originally, settings weren't changed for that field)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. used google.ca or duckduckgo to search "lemon curd"
  2. selected an allrecipes.com link that showed up
  3. presented with warning page that states that the website connection is not private and "allrecipes.com" may be impersonating a connection or website

*however must be noted that navigating to allrecipes.com and selecting anything else does not reproduce this issue. However, as an example, bestbuy.ca will also result in the same issue.

Expected behavior:
<What you expected to happen?>
Webpage to load without issue.

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
1.2.4 (2) (Webkit 8614.4.6.0.5) - iOS 16.3, iPhone 13 Pro 256GB

Image/Video:

I tried to reproduce the behaviour on Orion for desktop but couldn't, the page loads perfectly.
I do encounter the same behaviour on iOS however.

I thought the "your connection is not private" message came from SSL certificate issues, but here it seems in this case it's the way Orion for iOS processes the request...?

ive also experienced this quite a bit. what's weird is that it seems to always use https without ever redirecting to https, and the certificate is valid.
