  • Inconsistent behaviour when clicking address bar and hitting return.

  • BugsDesktopDone

Steps to reproduce:
Open a link. Open a second tab and another link. Go back to the first tab, click the address bar (the url becomes highlighted), then hit return: the same URL reloads.
Compare with:
Open a link. Open a second tab and another link. CLOSE this tab and click the address bar of the remaining tab (the url becomes highlighted), then hit return: The url of the CLOSED tab loads..

Expected behavior:
I would expect a reload of the existing tab in all cases....
Or at least consistency.
Orion and macOS:
MacOS 11.6.1 (M1), Orion Version 0.99.108.1-beta (WebKit 613.1.10)

robt I can not reproduce this. Can you record a video?

It is not easy to reproduce. There must be multiple tabs open. If I open a new window and follow my instructions it does not happen.

EDIT: there must be at least 3 tabs. Close the tab on the far right, go to the first tab (ie not the one that becomes active after closing the right tab) and select/hit return. The url of the closed tab is loaded. See recording.

robt Are you still able to reproduce this with latest beta 112?

I'm on 111.2 and cannot get it to reproduce, however I saw something similar a couple of times (seemed like it was pasting an address from the clipboard rather than refreshing the page when the highlighted URL was return-key'd.
I will update with more info when I can reproduce it.

Vlad updated. So far I cannot reproduce.

I'm having difficulty pinning it down, but it seems to be associated with links that happen to be in the OS copy/paste system. It is still happening, but difficult to reproduce now as it is a multistep process.

Still happening in Version 0.99.113.2.2-rc (WebKit 614.1.12)
have a few tabs open and loaded.
open a new tab and type an address from history (ie that autocompletes). hit return to load the site.
Now close that tab, go to a previously opened tab and click in the address bar to the right, so the cursor is after the address and the address is not highlighted.
                Now hit return:
I expect this address to reload, but the address in the closed tab is loaded instead.

robt Can you confirm in 114? (and add a video again please)
