Ninja Mode! I would love this too. When keyboard shortcuts cover everything chrome can be optional.
Setting for making "focus mode" permanent?
karoliskoncevicius Where would the setting be, how would it be called, and how would it work?
How it would work: in my opinion, the same way as "use compact size" - set it once and it's there in every session.
Where would the setting be: less sure about this one. A logical place would probably be "appearance" settings. So maybe in the same place as "use compact size" option?
These are just quick ideas. Ultimately it's probably not that important, because it's just a setting that would be accessed and set once. The place for the setting can even be changed afterwards, if a better one is found?
If the focus mode only hides the toolbar, and there are no planned extensions for it, then one concrete proposal:
Place: Settings - Appearance - Toolbar section
Called: replace "always show toolbar" with a drop menu "Hide toolbar" and possible options "1) Never, 2) In Full Screen, 3) Always".
Action: When "Always" is set - the toolbar is always hidden.
karoliskoncevicius I think that would not be clear as does not use the wording Focus mode anywhere. Can you come up with a different proposal?
What about a slightly different approach: option to toggle “Persistent layout”. With this toggle in in Settings, Orion will remember your view state across new window spawning and restarts. If you enable Focus mode and/or a particular sidebar, it stays. Currently, sidebars only partially persist with no option to control it: if you activate Bookmarks Sidebar and restart Orion, it keeps sidebar open but resets it to Windows Sidebar.
This option should be off by default so new users that "accidentally pressed something and now the thing disappeared" can restart Orion to "fix" it.

karoliskoncevicius Perhaps a setting like
New windows are created in:[ Normal/Focus mode]?
phy I think some people might have multiple windows, one in focus mode, another in private mode, etc, and then when a new session starts, what to do?
Vlad I was thinking along those lines too, this sounds good, but adds another separate setting, instead of integrating it into pre-existing ones. This should be in "General" I assume? Definitely an acceptable solution to me.
karoliskoncevicius How do you access tooolbar when in focus mode?
Vlad I need toolbar mainly for going to a specific address, which I do with command + l
. Currently it also triggers the toolbar to become visible.
I am a user who also currently always uses focus mode, and using ⌘L for navigating the address/ toolbar. I think the main problem with this however is not being able to quickly see what your other tabs are (i.e in Arc you can hover to the side and have the sidebar show up, but this is not currently a feature in Orion and I have to use ⌘⌃S to quickly "remember" what my other tabs are and then navigate to them with ⌘1, 2, 3, ... etc. Either having the hover feature (may be disruptive) or possibly incorporating #7813 where you can search "tab" and show all the other open tabs in the window.
