  • Closing the only tab on iPadOS with external keyboard opens two tabs

  • BugsMobileDone

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Orion on iPadOS with external keyboard.
  2. Make sure only one tab is present (e.g., tab bar is not shown), can be either a web page or the Orion Start Page.
  3. Press Cmd+W.
  4. Orion is now showing two empty tabs (three if "New Tabs Open With" is set to "Home Page").

Expected behavior:
Orion does not open the extra tab

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Orion iOS 1.2.4 (2) (WebKit 8614.4.6.0.5)
iPadOS 16.3 (20D47)
iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (5th generation) / M1

(A bit hard to tell in the video, but I was basically spamming Cmd+W here)

alicerunsonfedora I've found that once tabs are in this "double open" state sometimes it result in other strange tabs behavior, e.g., opening a link open extra tabs that were previously closed or duplicated content, or reloading a page resulting in a new page.

The only way to get out of this state is to close all tabs (using touch), kill the app, and reopen. I didn't include these details in the report since it's a bit trickier to reproduce. I've found the only way to use Orion on iPadOS in current form is to not use it with external keyboard at all.

sirn Yeah, that actually does sound pretty similar to the issues I’ve encountered. I’d like to think they’re related in some way.
