I can confirm the same issue with Gmail unread mail count not updating in Orion wether the tab is pinned or not.

Worth mentioning that Safari suffers from the same issue as well.

    Orion Version 0.99.113.2-beta (WebKit 613.1.12)
    MacOS 12.3.1

    2 months later

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Enable the "Unread message icon" setting in the "advanced" section of gmail settings.
    2. Have unread messages in your inbox.

    Expected behavior:
In Firefox the tab icon is changed like this:

In Orion it stays the same:

    Orion, OS version; hardware type:

    Latest Orion, macOS 12.4, intel

Merged 2 posts from Gmail "Unread message icon" setting doesn't work.

      Steps to reproduce:
Visit app1.thing.com That has favicon A
Visit app2.thing.com that has favicon B

      Expected behavior:
Favicon A displays for both tabs.

I see the same symptom when changing the apps that are running on localhost:8000, the favicon of the first app will be used even if the server changes and offers a different favicon

      Orion, OS version; hardware type:
      Version 0.99.116-beta (WebKit 614.1.20)

I re-tested the subdomain thing and I cannot reproduce it.

What is left is the refreshing of the icon on the same domain, which there already is the issue for, hence flagged for merging

It would be nice to get this soon. I rely on minified vertical tabs, and this bug makes it a good bit annoying. I hope the donation helps.

Up! I came here to submit the same bug. Unfortunately, refreshing favicons is crucial for my work (I have 5 messengers open as pinned tabs in my browser).

Here's the video if it helps. Note how Discord favicon changes in Brave (Chromium), but not in Orion.

I suspect this is a Webkit bug actually, but maybe there's a way for Orion team to fix it quickly?

P.S. I found Application Support/Orion/Defaults/Favicon Cache folder and emptied it, did not help :-(

            Thanks!

My gmail tab is usually pinned, so seeing the unread count is something I really depend on. I can get it to work sometimes in Orion by disabling and re-enabling the icon in the advanced Gmail settings, but it's only for a few minutes, then it goes back to not having any kind of badge on it to signify the count.

            +1

I usually turn off notifications, but rely on being able to glace at the pinned tabs favicon to see if something has happened when I use other browsers. Would very much appreicate this getting done in Orion.

Hi I noticed lately Orion is not either loading I use the latest version of Orion. I used macOS Sonoma 14.7 and now I update to macOS Sequoia 15 but I noticed for some time that favicons do not load correctly or some do not even load.

We've decided not to implement websites that update favicons--like Gmail, Discord--for now (though we might in the future)

You know what, guys? I'm going to push for this feature; you're right!
