I’ve noticed that tabs can act rather inconsistently on multiple occasions on iPad, and it’s hard to exactly reproduce at times because of its unpredictability. Typically, restarting the browser will resolve the issue, but these problems will occasionally reappear. I’ll try my best to explain some of the behaviors I notice.
- Sometimes, pulling down to refresh or tapping the refresh button causes the webpage to open in a new tab, instead of maintaining the current tab.
- In some instances, opening a link from another app (for example, tapping a link in Fedigardens or using the “Open in Safari” option), will open multiple tabs of the same website. Closing one will cause another to appear, for some reason.
I suspect this might have to do with an iCloud syncing issue, but it’s merely speculation.
Steps to reproduce:
See above notice. Again, the behaviors are unpredictable, so there’s no reliable way of reproducing it.
Expected behavior:
- For reloading, the webpage should reload in its own tab.
- For opening a link from another app, the webpage should open a single tab that loads the content. When closing tabs, a new one with the same webpage from before shouldn’t open.
